hey guys

INERTIA- it is defined as a property by virtue of which an object cannot change its state by itself.
TYPES OF INERTIA-

1.) INERTIA OF REST- the property of an object to oppose any change in its state of rest is called inertia of rest.
example- when an bus or car suddenly starts moving forwards the passengers fall backwards

2.) INERTIA OF MOTION- the property of an object to oppose any change in its state of motion is called INERTIA of motion.
example- when the driver of a bus running at high speed suddenly applies a break the passengers experience a forward push.

3.) INERTIA OF DIRECTION- the property of an object to oppose any change in its state of direction of motion is called inertia of direction.
example- when the fast moving bus moves on the curve on a road the passengers experience an outward push.

  • Inertia of motion
  • Inertia of direction

Inertia at rest: The inability of a body to change its state of rest is known as Inertia of Rest.

Example: Person sitting in a car falls backwards

Inertia of motion: The inability of the body to any change its state of motion is known as inertia of motion

Example: Person sitting in a car falls forward when breaks are applie

Inertia of direction: The inability of a body to change its direction of motion by itself is called as inertia of direction

Example: Person sitting in a car falls side wards when the car turns
