Ustad Bismillah Khan was born on 21 March 1916 at Dumraon in Bihar. He is often referred as the title Ustad .He was an Indian musician credited with popularising the Shehnai ,a subcontinental wind instrument of the oboe class. While the Shehnai headlong importance as a folk instrument played Primary School in traditional ceremonies Khan is credited with elevating in status and bringing it to the concert stage he would regularly go to the nearby Bihari Ji temple to sing Bhojpuri cheta at the and of which he would earn a big laddu vein 1.25 kg price given by the local Maharaj this happened 80 years ago and the little boy has traveled far to earn the highest civilian award in India the Bharat Ratna his father's name was Paigambar Bux who was also a great shehnai player.When India gained independence on 15th August 1947 Bismillah Khan became the first Indian to be the nation with his Shehnai Bismillah Khan has given many memorable performance both in India and abroad his first trip was at the Afghanistan Bismillah Khan became the first Indian to be invited to perform at the Lincoln Centre hall in USA a student of his once wanted him to head Shehnai wonderful town in USA but Bismillah Khan ask him if he would be able to transport Ganga as well he passed away on 21 August 2006 at the age of 90 his life is a perfect example of rich culture cultural heritage of India one that effortlessly accepts that devout Muslim like him can play Shehnai at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple
