Robert Lee Frost (March 26, 1874 – January 29, 1963) was an American poet. His work was initially published in England before it was published in America. Known for his realistic depictions of rural life and his command of American colloquial speech,[2]Frost frequently wrote about settings from rural life in New England in the early twentieth century, using them to examine complex social and philosophical themes.

Born on March 26, 1874, Robert frost moved from Pennsylvania to Lawrence, Massachusetts after the death of his father. Enrolled in Dartmouth College he became interested in reading and writing poetry. He struggled through various occupations after school working as a cobbler, editor and teacher. "My Butterfly" was the first poem he published in the new york newspaper the independent.

Later frost married in 1895 to Elinor Miriam White. In abroad frost got inspired through various contemporary British poets such as Rupert Brooke, Robert Graves and Edward Thomas. With Ezra pound, Frost developed his friendship and helped frost in publishing and promoting his works.

His works were are known for its realistic depictions and wrote from New England's rural life in the early twentieth century through which he examined philosophical and complex social themes.

He was rewarded several times for his works and became  "Public literary figures, almost an artistic institution."
