Below are the tests to be performed to distinguish between the given salts.
(a) Ammonium Chloride(NH4Cl) and Sodium Chloride(NaCl)
When Ammonium Chloride(NH4Cl) is heated at high temperature, it sublimes and gives rise to white colored dense fumes. Later, these fumes condense to form a powdered white substance on the cool areas of the test tube.
But, Sodium Chloride(NaCl) does not give rise to any white colored fumes upon heating.
(b) Sodium Sulphate(Na2SO4) and Ammonium Sulphate((NH4)2SO4
When Ammonium Sulphate (NH4)2SO4 is heated along with NaOH solution, it will liberate NH3 gas.
But, Sodium Sulphate (Na2SO4) does not give out NH3 gas on heating with NaOH solution.
