As displacement is the shortest path from initial position to final position and distance is the actual path travelled by an object. So displacement can be negative zero or positive but it's magnitude will always be less than the magnitude of distance.

For ex-an object A travelled from one point and then returned back to that point then the displacement will be zero as the initial and final position are same.
