\bigstar To Find:

The density of Methane at 27°C and 2 atm

\bigstar Solution:-

We know that

\red{\rm \longrightarrow d=\dfrac{PM}{RT}}

Here;

d = density

P = pressure

M = mass

R= gas constant

T = temperature

According to the question

We are asked to find the density of methane at 27°C and 2 atm

Therefore:

We must find "d"

Given that

Methane at 27°C and 2 atm

Hence;

T = 27°C = 300 K

P = 2 atm

We know that;

Mass of methane (CH₄)

[Mass of Carbon= 12 g/mol]

[Mass of Hydrogen= 1 g/mol]

Hence;

M = 12 + (4 x 1) = 16 g/mol

Therefore;

M = 16 g/mol

We also know that

R = 0.082 L atm/K mol

Substituting the values

We get:-

\blue{\rm \longrightarrow d=\dfrac{2 \times 16}{0.082 \times 300} \ g/L}

On further simplification

We get;

\orange{\rm \longrightarrow d \approx 1.299 \ g/L}

Hence:-

\pink{\rm \longrightarrow d = 1.30 \ g/L}

Therefore:-

Density of Methane at 27°C and 2 atm = 1.30 g/L
