Filteration is the process to separate the tea leaves from tea as mainly the liquid components are separated from the solid components. i.e. tea is liquid and tea leaves are solid. Sieving can't be used as it is used to separate solid components from solid components

One method of doing this is by decantation, just like we did in case of the rice mixed with water. However, if we use this method, some of the leaves would still be left behind in the tea.

On the other hand, if we carry out this process by using a tea strainer, all the leaves would be properly caught in the strainer and none of them would be found in the tea cup. In this case we have filtered out the leaves. This is called filtration.
