Two geometrical objects are called similar if they both have the same shape, or one has the same shape ..

For example, all circles are similar to each other, all squares are similar to each other, and all equilateral triangles are similar to each other.

On the other hand, isosceles triangles are not all similar to each other.

If two angles of a triangle have measures equal to the measures of two angles of another triangle, then the triangles are similar. Corresponding sides of similar triangle are in proportion, and corresponding angles of similar triangle have the same measure.

Two sides have lengths in the same ratio, and the angles included between these sides have the same measure. For instance:

AB/A′B′ = BC/B′C′ and ∠ABC is equal in measure to ∠A′B′C′.

This is known as the SAS Similarity Criterion.

When two triangles △ABC and △A′B′C′ are similar, one writes  as:

△ABC ∼ △A′B′C′.

Similarity of Triangle:-

If, Corresponding angles are equal

&

Corresponding sides are proportional

Then, two triangles are said to be similar.

In which,

i) They are equiangular.

ii) They have the same shape but not certainly the same size.

iii) They are similar but the converse is not always true.

" ~ " is the symbol for similar triangle.
