Give difference between absolute and relative refractive index

Absolute Refractive Index : The Ratio of the refractive index of a given medium with respect to the refractive index of ( refractive index of air = 1)

is called as absolute refractive index.

Relative Refractive Index : The Ratio of the refractive index of the second medium with respect to refractive index of  the first medium i.e n₂₁ = n₂÷n₁
