Give difference between speed and velocity?

Speed is distance travelled per unit time while Velocity is displacement per unit time. Speed does not give any information on the direction of the moving body while Velocity gives information on the speed and direction of the moving body. Speed is a scalar quantity Velocity is a vector quantity.

speed only describes the magnitude whereas velocity describes the direction and magnitude both. magnitude means the number like 40 in 40 km/hr. speed is scaler quantity and velocity is vector quantity.
