a) Arteries have narrow lumens. They do not have valves. They are deep seated. They carry oxygenated blood (except pulmonary artery).

Veins have wider lumens. They have valves. They are superficially placed. They carry deoxygenated blood (except pulmonary vein).

b) Auricles have thin walls.

Ventricles have thick walls to generate enough pressure to distribute the oxygenated blood to the entire body.

c) Xylem carry water from the soil through the roots to the leaves upwards.

Phloem carry food downwards from the leaves to all parts of the plants.
