COVERT ethanol into ethene by using strong acid (to convert oh into +h20 group (a strong leaving group) )and a strong base (u can use sterically hindred base as tertiary butoxide to cut a hydrogen from the carbon adjacent to the carbon bearing hydronuim ion) to make an ethene(Elimination reaction )

THEN convert ethene into ethane by using hydrogen with a metal catalyst as nickel or paladium at 150 to 300celesius
