Give evidence in support of the fact that air is mixture not a compound.

air is a mixture is that freezing air slowly yields different liquids at different temperatures. Liquid nitrogen has a different boiling point than liquid oxygen. They also freeze at different temperatures. If air were only one compound, then airon a whole would have a single boiling point and a single freezing point, but this is not the case,hence air is a mixture and not a compound.

For example, oxygen separates from the air mixture and combines with iron and water to create iron oxide or rust. Iron oxide is a compound because it is a new substance formed through a reaction between its components, and its components can't be broken down into oxygen, iron and water once the reaction has taken place. Air, like saturated sugar water, is a homogeneous mixture with uniformly distributed components.
