Commutative is a property which states,
a+b=b+a under addition
a×b=b×a under multiplication

Examples:-
•under addition
2+3=3+2
5=5
•under multiplication
2×3=3×2
6=6

Associative is a property which states,
a+(b+c)=(a+b)+c under addition
a×(b×c)=(a×b)×c under multiplication
Examples:-
•under addition
2+(4+5)=(2+4)+5
2+9=6+5
11=11
•under multiplication
2(4×5)=(2×4)×5
2(20)=8(5)
40=40

Hope it helps
