laterite soil found in the north-eastern hills is India is an example if leaching soil. It develops insitu as a result of leaching due to heavy rains. hence it is found on the top of hills and on hill slopes. they are also found in Kerala, Western Ghats and Chhota Nagpur. the high temperatures and heavy rainfall resulting in alternating wet and dry spells cause the soluble silica in the soil to be removed.
