The growth of plant shoot against the direction of water in the soil is an example of negative hydrotropism.
Hydrotropism is defined as growth of plant in the direction of water. But, shoots of a plant are seen to grow vertically against the direction of water, either in a water body, or water in a soil. So the phenomenon of shoots growing away from the direction of water in the ground level is an appropriate example of negative hydrotropism
