Urban growth was often centred round religious places because of the following reasons -
a)Because of donations to the religious temples - many pilgrims came to these beautiful temples and gave donations . Along with the pilgrims kings also given donations in order to carry rituals and feed pilgrims and priests. These donations included grants of land & money
b) Temple authority used this wealth to finance trade and banking.
c)Because of temples - as temples were often central to economy and society.
