A significant attribute of ancient Indian culture has been the commingling of cultural elements from the north and south, and from the east and west. Ancient India also saw the birth of Brahmanism or Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism, but all these cultures and religions intermingled and interacted.

Answer:
The ancient epics, the 'Ramayana' and the 'Mahabharata' were studied with the same zeal and devotion, whatever the form in which Indian culture value and ideas were expressed, the substance remained the same throughout the country. These epics were originally composed in Sanskrit but came to be presented in different local languages.
