Area of contract is inversely proportional to pressure. It means that less area more pressure and more area less pressure.

For example: When we cut a cake with a knife, it easily got cut because the area is less and the pressure would be more.

Wide tires are placed in dumper so that less pressure would be on land.

QUESTION:-

Give examples of showing relation between pressure and area of contact.

ANSWER:-

Pressure is a measure of the force that is exerted on a surface area. The more the force the more the pressure and lessen the force the less the pressure that is exerted is less. The pressure is moreover related to the area of contact in such a manner that both are inversely proportional to each other.

Examples Of Showing Relation Between Pressure And Area Of Contact.

  • The flat edge of a knife has a wider area compared to the sharp edge of the knife. Hence, it is lenient to cut fruit by using the sharp edge of a knife because the area of contact between the knife and the fruit is lesser and the pressure is more.

  • Due to the inverse proportional of pressure and the area of contact, the pressure is more in the case of walking is difficult in a sandal or a shoe in the snow because of high pressure, the shoes or sandal move deep inside the snow and it becomes tough to walk.

  • School bags have broad straps because the broadened straps allow the area of contact between the straps and the shoulders to be more. After all, when the area of contact is more, the pressure is less and children feel it lenient to carry their school bags on their shoulders.
