Answer:
Santosh Yadav was born in a small village of Joniyawas of Rewari District in Haryana. She began living life on her own terms from a very young age. When the other girls wore traditional attire, Santosh preferred shorts. She was quite determined and knew if she chose the correct and rational path, it was not her but others around her who had to change.
She was rebellious and exhibited the fortitude to carry on the struggle against the conservative ideology of people. Santosh denied marrying at an early age and continued education on her own terms. When her parents were reluctant to pay the fees she threatened to work part time. She asserted her right to equality in the male dominated society and ultimately proved her mettle by becoming the first and youngest woman mountaineer to climb Mount Everest twice.
This iron willed lady has a softer side to her character who is truly a genuine and a helpful person. She provided special care to one of the climbers who laid dying at the south col. Not only this she didn’t think twice before sharing her oxygen with Mohan Singh who would have died during one of the Everest expeditions had she not come in the front to save his life. The life and character of Santosh is truly inspiring and worth learning from.
