Chadwick's correct interpretation of the experiment 
He discovered that, when Beryllium is bombarded by alpha particles there emitted a very energetic stream of radiation, First it was considered as the Gamma ray. but later he figured out that, it is some kind of neutral ray.
That ray was a beam of Neutrons.

James Chadwick "Alpha rays scattering" is the experimental evidence for the discovery of neutron. By bombarding beryllium atoms with alpha particles, radiation was produced. Actually it can be said as an energy which is composed of neutral charge particle by having the appropriate weight of proton which is named as neutron.
