A Sound created in a big hall with persist by repeated reflection from the wall until it is reduced to a value where it is no longer audible .

  • the repeated reflection that result in the persistence of sound is called Reverberation .

Example :- in an Auditorium big hall excessive reverberation is highly undesirable .

So , to reduce reverberation the roof and walls of the Auditorium and generally covered with sound absorbent material like compressed fiberboard , Rough plaster or draperies .

  • the seat material are also selected on the basis of their sound absorbing properties.

uses of multiple reflection of sound
