Inertia Calculation. The Inertia of a point mass m at a distance 'r' is given by the formula I = (mr2). But in case of a solid mass rotating about its axis is the 'average' if the moments of inertia from r = 0 to r = r. Hence the moment of inertia of a cylinder about its axis is I = mr2.

hey dear friend here your
answer :::

It is defined as ::
Inertia is that property of a body which causes it to remain in it's state of motion in a straight line, or spin or rest, until or unless some external force is applied on it.
Inertia is present due to mass.

Formula ::
Moment of inertia (I) = Mass × Distance2
Dimensional formula of I is [ M1L2T0]
