Medieval India's map includes Pakistan and parts of Afghanistan in the west. But modern India's map doesn't. Even Andaman Nicobar islands were not part of medieval India.
As such India medevial was consisting of diverse kingdoms. India felt and realised it as country only after independence
If you want the explanation from my side then as per my knowledge from class 7 History Ncert, there was a arab geographer called Al-idrisi he drawn India's map but in that Map Sri Lanka was in north and India was in south means complete reversal of what we have today as reality
