✔Maize: modern corn is descended from grasses like teosinte. It has been domesticated for hardiness, height and width, ear size, seed size, flowering time and color.

✔Pluots: pluots are one of the hybrid fruits from Floyd Zaiger. They are a cross between two stone fruits: a plum and an apricot. This can happen in nature, but Zaiger has created several varieties with different colors, flavors and aromas.

✔Apples: the wild apple tree, Malus sieversii, still exists today. I produces a small fruit, about the size of a plum, with non-uniform red and green coloring. The apple has been selected for a variety of traits: fruit size, fruit sweeteness, fruit color, tree height, tree width, fruit location on the branches, any many more. The wild apple would see bland and hard when compared to even a Red Delicious. In recent years, there has been a push for new varieties of apples, focusing on sweetness, aroma and crispness.

✔Almost even plant has a similar story. Modern strawberries were domesticated and then bred back to wild strawberries to create new varieties. Rice plants have been selected for thousands of years based on grain size, color, seed coat and plant height. Even conifers have been selected for height and girth to make more manageable Christmas trees. Artificial selection is the story of agriculture.
