Saliva contains the enzyme amylase, also calledptyalin, which is capable of breaking down starch into simpler sugars such as maltose and dextrin that can be further broken down in the small intestine.

Ans. ptylin is an enzyme secreted in buccal cavity. It acts on carbohydrates and converts them into Dextrose and Maltose and this helps in breaking down of food substances in mouth. ptylin enzyme itself is actually the same type of enzyme as the amylase enzyme , but it works as a oral cavity
