Because in maharashtra the central part is called as drought , because it gets less rainfall ,As the winds coming western sides are obstructed by the mountain ranges ,the windward sides gets more rain that is the coast and the leeward side that is the central maharashtra remains dry and rainshadow region is formed there.
so the central part gets less rainfall than that of coast.
