Both, the continental crust and oceanic crust are thick but the oceanic crust is much more dense than the continental crust.

Both these crusts are less denser than mantle but since continental crust has lower density than the other one, it has a higher elevation tha the ocean floor.

Their densities vary mainy because they are made of different types of rocks that also have varying densities which greatly affects their elevation.

The density of the crust below the continents is 2.65 to 2.90 gm/cm³. The density of the crust below the oceans is 2.90 to 3.3 gm/cm³. As the density of the crust below the continents is comparatively low, it keeps floating on the mantle. It does not subduct into mantle. As its effect. The thickness of the crust below the continents in found to be high.
