Important Characteristics of the Deccan Plateau are -

• Lies to the south of satpura range and extends upto cape comorin.
• It is composed of crystalline rocks.it gently slopes towards the east.
• Its height varies from 300m to 900m from the sea level.
• The eastern edge of the plateau is marked by the western ghats , the sahyadari , the nilgiri , and the cardamom hills.
