Properties of sodium carbonate

Sofium carbonate is a white. Crystalline solids and it exists as a deva hydrate, sodium carbonate is also called washing soda .

It dusslove in water quite and its aqueous solution is alkaline. In nature because of hydrolysis.

Action of heat : Upon heating upto 379 K, it slowlylose nine molecule of water of crystallisation and changes into monohydrates

Uses of sodium carbonate

1. Fir the manufacturing of soap, glass, borax.

2. As a fusion mixture when mixed potassium carbonate.

3. For washing of clothes in laundry under the name washing soda.

4. As a laboratory reagents.

5. In textile industry and also in the refining of petroleum .
