Hi friend,
Indian Rupee
------------------------------------------------
Indian rupee is the currency of India. The issuance of currency is controlled by the RBI (Reserve Bank of India). Reserve Bank of India Act passed in 1934.
The symbol which we use to describe Indian money is "₹" which is pronounced as 'Rupees'.
On 8th November,2016 RBI announced the ban of ₹500 and ₹1000 notes.
A newly designed ₹500 and new denomination ₹2000 is being used since 10 November, 2016.
The rupee is named after the silver coin, rupiya, first issued by Sultan Sher Shah Suri in the 16th century and later continued by the Mughal Empire.
Hope this helps.......
