The life cycle of a silk moth goes on like this:

1. The female silk moth lays hundreds of eggs on the mulberry leaves.

2. These eggs hatch and the silkworms (larvae or caterpillars) come out and instantly start feeding on the mulberry leaves

3. Then after 25 to 30 days of continuous eating the silkworm enters the next stage of its life cycle called the pupa.

4. In the pupa stage the silkworm secretes a special protein which hardens in coming in contact with air, this protein is used to make the cocoon. The pupa after a few days completely covers itself and is housed inside the cocoon.

5. The further developments of the pupa occurs inside the cocoon and it matures to the adult form.

6.Then it secretes a chemical which weakens the cocoon and the breaks it open and flies away.

It consists of many stages :

The female silk moth lays eggs, which hatch to form larvae, called caterpillars or silkworms.

The silkworm feeds on leaves and grows. It then secretes a fiber made of protein that hardens on exposure to air. This fiber is silk.

The caterpillar covers itself with this fibre to form a cocoon. This is the pupa stage.

The pupa grows and changes inside the cocoon. After a few weeks, the cocoon opens and an adult moth comes out.

Hope it helps!! If it does, please mark as brainliest.
