1.Answer: Following were the main features of the Permanent Settlement: (a)The rajas and taluqdars were recognised as zamindars. (b)They were responsible for collecting revenue from peasants and paying to the Company. (c)Revenue demand was permanently fixed.

2.As in Mahalwari system it is the responsibility of village headman to collect the tax ,And lands were divided into mahals,which contain one or more villages but In ryotwari system ,Farmers own responsible for tax they itself had go and pay and no land was divided into mahals.

3.The new land revenue system fixed very high revenue over the peasants. ... However peasants were unable to pay them and as a result, villages were deserted and ryots fled the countryside. It also resulted in revolt s and protests from them.

4.A major reason for the success of the Indigo Revolt was the tremendous initiative, cooperation, organization and discipline of the ryots. ... Leadership for the movement was provided by the more well-off ryots and in some cases by petty zamindars, moneylenders and ex-employees of the planters.
