Herb: Turmeric
Good for: Arthritis
You might be surprised by that but a good portion of curry can relieve you from pain! That's thanks to turmeric, one of the spices used in curry. It contains, among others, curcumin, which has been proven to be a powerful anti-inflammatory, similar to Cox-2 inhibitors. They are medicine reducing the Cox-2 enzyme that causes the pain and swelling of arthritis.
Herb: Cinnamon
Good for: High blood sugar
Recent research conducted in Germany has shown that type 2 diabetics, who were taking cinnamon extract every day, had their blood sugar levels reduced by stunning 10% !
Herb: Rosemary
Good for: Avoiding carcinogens in meat
HCA (heterocyclic amines) are a type of potent carcinogens implicated in several types of cancer. They emerge during thermal processing of meat (grilling, frying, etc.) However, we can work on reducing the HCA levels significantly by using rosemary extract in cooking (according to Kansas State University researchers).
Rosemary contains carnosol and rosemarinic acid, two powerful antioxidants that destroy the HCAs
