Here it is

1. Keep your fluid intake up. Aim for eight glasses of water a day. Wine, coffee, and tea don’t count – alcohol and caffeine deplete the body of fluids. Herbal teas are fine, though.

2. Don’t get stressed out. Stress can affect immunity and lead to anxiety and depression. So do plenty of things that help you unwind. This could be playing with the kids, having a long soak in a hot bath, working out at the gym, or getting back to nature. We can also advise you about supplements designed to help stop anxiety and depression.

3. Some pointers for practising good hygiene:

Air out your room by opening the windows when the sun’s out, even if it’s only for a few minutes each day.

Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with water and soap.

Damp houses contribute to respiratory illness, so keep the bathroom door closed when showering, and consider installing a dehumidifier.

Stay away from work or school if you’re coughing or sneezing – don’t pass your infection on to others, especially children and babies.

4. Sleep soundly. Sleep is the natural way your body rests and rejuvenates itself. Not getting enough sleep or having a broken sleep can leave you feeling lethargic and much less able to fight off infections. Drop in and talk to us at the Happy Chemist if you’re not getting enough kip – we can assist you.

5. Eat in season. Nature provides fruit and vegetables packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to help maintain our health. Citrus – packed with vitamin C – is in season at this time of year. We also stock a wide range of vitamin and mineral supplements.

6. Get as much sun as possible. The sun is the natural source of Vitamin D, and this supply diminishes in winter as we spend less time outdoors. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to a range of quite serious health issues. Go for a walk outside when the sun’s shining – even half an hour a day will make a difference.
