Fats and oils in food is kept for a long time.. gets oxidised.. It is found that it has a foul smell .. called as Rancidity.

Due to various components of atmosphere,oxidation of metals takes place, consequently resulting in their damage.This is called as corrosion ..

corrosion = attack upon metal by the temperature , humidity etc is called corrosion

example = rusting of iron

rancidity = the oxidation of oily and fatty substances is called rancidity
