1. Mean is calculated by the average of all the numbers.

Mean = (Sum of the numbers) ÷ (The number of numbers)

2. Median is the middle number which is obtained after arranging the group of numbers in either ascending or descending order. [And if there are even number of numbers, then take the mean of the two middle numbers.]

Median = {(n + 1) ÷ 2}th, where “n” is the number of items in the set and “th” means the (n)th number.

3. Mode is the number that appears most often or most frequently in a set of numbers.

The only way to find out the mode is by making a frequency table through which the most frequent number can be obtained.

✷ Mean is calculated by the average of all the numbers.

✷Mean = (Sum of the numbers) ÷ (The number of numbers)) Direct method

Formula for Calculating mean using

IF no. Of observation isEVEN MEDIAN =n/2

IF no. Of observation is ODD MEDIAN =n+1/2

Direct MethodThe median formula is {(n + 1) ÷ 2}th

✷Assumed mean method

Formula for calculating mean using Assumed Mean method. :A+sigma fd/sigma f×i

✷And step deviation method:A+sigma fd×i/n

✷Median = {(n + 1) ÷ 2}th, where “n” is the number of items in the set and “th” means the (n)th number.

✷The mode is the number that appears most often in a set of numbers. The mode is the most frequently occurring value.
