give me an exact , excellent definition of neurilemma and axon hillock
Answers
NEURILEMMA :-The axon of nerve fibres outside the CNS (CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM) is covered with nucleated cytoplasmic layer of Schwann cells called as NEURILEMMA or NEUROLEMMA.
AXON HILLOCK :- It is the junctional part of the cyton (cell body of a neurone) and the axon bearing a funnel shaped structure.
Neurilemma (also known as neurolemma, sheath of Schwann, or Schwann's sheath)[1] is the outermost nucleated cytoplasmic layer of Schwann cells (also called neurilemmocytes) that surrounds the axon of the neuron. It forms the outermost layer of the nerve fiber in the peripheral nervous system.[2]
