2) Let the present age of daughter Sita be x years

Mother's age = y

10 years ago , Sita's age was = x - 10

10 years ago , Mother's age was = y - 10

According to the question 10 years ago , mother was 4 times as old as Sita

Therefore,

y - 10 = 4(x - 10)

→ y - 10 = 4x - 40

→ 4x - y = 40 - 10

→ 4x - y = 30 ---- (i)

Now , After 10 years , Sita's age will be = x + 10

After 10 years , Mother's age will be = y + 10

Acc to ques. after 10 years Mother will be twice as old as her daughter

Therefore,

y + 10 = 2(x + 10)

→ y + 10 = 2x + 20

→ 2x - y = 10 - 20

→ 2x - y = -10 ---- (ii)

Subtracting (ii) from (i) ,

4x - y - (2x - y) = 30 - (-10)

→ 4x - y - 2x + y = 30+10

→ 4x - 2x - y + y = 40

→ 2x + 0 = 40

→ 2x = 40

→ x = 40/2

→ x = 20

Hence, Sita's present age is 20 years.
