9.(1)The function of the nasal cavity is to warm, moisturize, and filter air entering the body before it reaches the lungs.
(2)When the diaphragm contracts and moves lower, the chest cavity enlarges, reducing the pressure inside the lungs. To equalize the pressure, air enters the lungs. When the diaphragm relaxes and moves back up, the elasticity of the lungs and chest wall pushes air out of the lungs. The diaphragm hence, helps the air to move in and out and creates space for breathing.
(3)Alveoli allow oxygen and carbon dioxide to move between the lungs and bloodstream.
10.(1) Glottis is guarded by epiglottis because when you swallow food. it closes off the trachea to prevent food going into the lungs
(2) Alveoli are covered with blood capillaries so that the exchange of gases can take place between the membranes of the alveoli and the surrounding capillaries. The blood capillariescovering alveoli have a low oxygen and high carbon dioxide concentrations.
(3) The cartilage rings are present in the trachea to prevent it from collapsing. This enables the lumen of thetrachea to stay open during breathing.
Hope it helped..
