To find :-

• Value of x

Solution :-

If a, b , c are the geometric mean then the required condition is

$\dfrac{c}{b} = \dfrac{b}{a}$

$ac = b {}^{2}$

So,

If 16, x , 4 are in G.P then ,

$\dfrac{4}{ x } = \dfrac{x}{16}$

Cross multiplication

$4 \times 16 = x \times x$

$64 = x {}^{2}$

x = ± 8

Since geometric mean cant be negative So, the value of x is 8
