Q. what does the term ' stand and stare ' means in this poem ?

Ans : The term "stand and stare" refers to appreciating the beauty that exists in our nature. People nowadays are so busy living their own lives, that they ignore the simple and beautiful surroundings that we live in .

Q. ' streams full of stars ' refers to what ?

Ans : The term "streams full of stars " refers to a river or a stream whose water glistens like stars in the daylight . The stream is being compared to the night sky , where the water drops are being called stars , due to the fact , that they shine just like them , but in the daylight. This shows that beauty is found all the time , at day and at night . We just need to have an eye for them.

Q. What does the 2nd para of this poem signify ?

Ans : The 2nd paragraph of the poem signifies the difference between animals and humans. Domestic animals like , sheep and cows , stand as long as they wish in the green pastures , taking in the beautiful nature . These animals actually appreciate the nature and are grateful for it , unlike humans , who keep on using its resources , with no thanks .

Q. What lesson can be learned by this poem ?

Ans : This poem talks about how humans have become too busy in their city life , that they began ignoring the very nature , that provided for all their needs. People now have no time to stand and appreciate the beauty of their surrounding , nor are they grateful to the nature and all its components ,i.e, the animals, plants, trees, birds, streams, etc. Humans have lost their ability to ask questions . They are no longer curious . They have accepted their monotonous lifestyle and have no time for the nature.

This poem teaches us that life without nature is dull and boring . We must learn to appreciate nature , live in the wild , understand its creatures and have a bit of curiosity as well as a sense of adventure in our lives. And , mostly we must be thankful , that we are born on this beautiful planet that provides for our every need and want .
