Answer:
The Good Thief
One morning King Suryavansh was in the court having a discussion with his ministers. Suddenly, the Chief of Guards brought a thief before the king. He was charged with stealing jewellery from a house. The king looked at the theif for some time and then asked the thief what the reason was for committing such crime.
The thief bent his head down and didn't answer the king. The king repeated the question and still the thief kept quiet.
"Do you know what the punishment is for robbery?" said the king a little sternly.
The robber had tears in his eyes and replied, "Yes Maharaj! Three months in jail is what everybody told me."
"Oh, then why did you commit the crime? Aren't you scared that you would be punished?" said the king.
"Oh, I committed the crime to get caught. At least I would have something to eat when I am in the prison. And my wife will have one less mouth to feed everyday and my share of food can be given to my children. Please put me in prison", pleaded the theif.
The king and the ministers bent their heads down and fell silent.
