1st let us calculate the area of the room

as it is a rectangle the area of the room = length × breadth = 10 × 5 = 50 m²

as the square pieces area is in cm² let us convert the area of the room in cm²

1 m = 100 cm ⇒ area of room = 50 × 100 × 100 cm² = 500000cm²

so 1 square piece occupies an area of 50 cm²

then 500000cm²/50cm² = 10000 square pieces are required to cover the entire floor of length 10m and 5m

given that cost of each square piece is 20Rs/-

then cost of 10000 pieces = 20 × 10000 = 200000 Rs/-

so 2 lakh rupees is the expenditure for the square pieces.
