Answer : Properties of Metals:

Metals are lustrous

Metals are colourful

Metals can conduct heat and electricity

Metals are ductile

Metals are malleable

Metals are sonorous.

Properties of non - metals:

They are poor conductors of heat and electricity. They are non - lustrous . They are non - malleable . They are non - ductile . And they are non - sonorous.

Malleability means , when it is hammered , it can be change into thin sheets.

Ductility means , they can be drawn into wires.

Sonorous means , they produce sound when they are beaten.

Then there are some excemptions. Ex:

Iodine is a liquid non - metal , since it possess metal's property (lustre).

All metals and non - metals are made up of elements and compounds.

Then......

Bromine is a liquid non-metal , that exists as a liquid in normal room temperature.

Mercury is a liquid metal , that exists as a liquid in normal room temperature.

Hope it helps
