Answer:

  •  Matter occupies space, has mass and can be perceived/sensed by our senses.
  • There are three states of matter : solid, liquid and gas
  • solid : molecules are closely and tightly packed,  intermolecular force of attraction is the highest, intermolecular space is the least and no empty space, definite shape, size and volume and cannot be compressed and cannot diffuse.
  • liquid: mol. are loosely packed , intermolecular force of attraction is less, intermolecular space is more, indefinite shape, size but definite volume, can be compressed , molecules can slip, glide or pass over each other thus they can flow and can diffuse.

  • gas : mol. are very loosely packed , intermolecular force of attraction is least, intermolecular space is most, indefinite shape, size and  volume, can be compressed  highly, molecules can slip, glide or pass over each other thus they can flow and can diffuse rapidly.
