Oral biology is that area of knowledge that deals with the structure, development, and function of the oral tissues; their interrelationships; and their relation to other organ systems in both health and disease.

aboral surfaces are surfaces away from or opposite the mouth. The term is a compound of the Latin preposition ā, a, abs, meaning from or away from and the noun ōs, ōris n., meaning mouth. It is also the opposite of oral which is the end containing the mouth of a radially symmetrical animal.

Ventral or lower end of organism where mouth is located is known as oral surface and Dorsal or upper end of organism where anus is located known as aboral surface.

Explanation:

Cnidarians such as jellyfish, sea anemones and corals are made up of incomplete digestive system, that is why the end of the organism where mouth is located is represented as oral surface and opposite to oral surface aboral surface is located which bears anus.

In few cnidarians, the oral surface is flatter and the aboral  surface more rounded while in other species the aboral surface is flattened and separated from the oral surface with the help of marginal plates that further forms marginal ridge  that traces the outline of the organism.

The alimentary canal is short and directly connects the oral surface to aboral surface. Hence, oral surface plays all the general roles of mouth and aboral surface plays role of anus or excretory organ in organisms.
