Step-by-step explanation:
- Given
- Diameter of well is 16 m.
- So radius will be d/2 = 16/2 = 8 m
- Depth of well = 28 m
- Diameter of circular ring is 40 m
- So radius of circular ring will be 40/2 = 20 m
- Now inner radius r = 8 m
- And outer radius R = 20 + 8 = 28 m
- Let height of well dug be H
- Volume of well dug = volume of mud taken out from well.
- Therefore (πR^2 H – π r^2H ) = πr^2h
- (R^2 – r^2) H = r^2 h
- So H = r^2 h / R^2 – r^2
- = 8^2 x 28 / 28^2 – 8^2
- = 1792 / 720
= 2.488 m
