 {bd}^{2}  =  {ad}^{2}  +  {ab}^{2}

 {bd}^{2}   =  {6}^{2}  +  {8}^{2}

 {bd}^{2}  = 36 + 64

 {bd}^{2}  = 100

bd =  \sqrt{100}

bd = 10 \: cm

area \: of \: rectangle = l \times b

 = 8 \times 6 = 48 \:  {cm}^{2}

radius \: of \: circle =  \frac{diameter}{2}

 =  \frac{bd}{2}

 =  \frac{10}{2}  = 5 \: cm

area \: of \: circle = \pi  {r}^{2}

 =  \frac{22}{7}  \times  {5}^{2}

  = \frac{22}{7}  \times 5 \times 5

 =  \frac{550}{7}

area \: of \: shaded \: region =  (\frac{550}{7}  - 48) {cm}^{2}

 = ( \frac{550 - 336}{7} ) {cm}^{2}

 =  \frac{214}{7}  {cm}^{2}
