In Monohybrid cross, Mendel brought about the cross between two pea plants with only one pair of contrasting characters. This type of cross is called a Monohybrid cross. Mendel consider the characteristic ' plant height' with the pair tall plant and dwarf plant.

In Dihybrid cross, Mendel brought about a cross between a pea plant producing rounded and yellow coloured seeds and a pea plant with wrinkled and green coloured seeds. In this cross,two pairs of contrasting characteristics were considered colors of seeds and shape of seeds. Hence,it is called a Dihybrid cross.
